Silk Museum

Silk Museum

  • Valencia, Spain
  • 2017 – present
  • Cultural mediation and promotion

The College of High Art of Silk (Colegio del Arte Mayor de la Seda) is one of the most emblematic buildings of Valencian architecture and culture, located in the heart of the Velluters district, in the city’s historic centre.

Built in the 15th century on a Gothic base, its interior houses a remarkable artistic heritage, including frescoes, murals and, most notably, its floor mosaics.

Thanks to the restoration led by the Hortensia Herrero Foundation between 2014 and 2016, an essential part of the city’s tangible and intangible history has been recovered. The building was the headquarters of the influential silk guild, a key force in Valencia’s economy and internationally recognised. It also preserves the most important historical archive in Europe related to silk.

Since then, Global Menta has led the project, creating and developing unique experiences that bring this heritage space closer to all audiences, through proposals grounded in innovation, quality and emotional connection.

How we transformed the museum
into a cultural landmark

Cultural management

The management of this space is defined by a comprehensive approach that combines visitor services, specialised mediation and the enhancement of heritage value. Through a team trained in history, art and silk-making tradition, experiences are designed for diverse audiences, including guided tours, audiovisual content and accessible signage.

We prioritise clear, engaging communication that links the legacy of the silk guild with the living history of Valencia. We also implement technological tools such as multilingual audioguides and an efficient ticketing system, all aimed at ensuring a high-quality cultural experience.

Content design and mediation

Global Menta’s content design and cultural mediation at the Silk Museum focus on conveying the historical, artistic and social value of Valencia’s silk heritage in an accessible, rigorous and engaging way. Content is tailored to different visitor profiles through resources such as guided tours, educational materials, audioguides in five languages and activities for school groups.

Mediation is carried out by a specialised team, fostering a participatory experience and facilitating dialogue between the public and the heritage. This work not only informs but also creates an emotional connection between the visitor and the history of the building, the silk guild and the city of Valencia.

Communication and promotion

Global Menta’s communication and promotion at the Silk Museum are based on a coherent, multichannel strategy aimed at positioning the space as a cultural landmark in Valencia. Through digital campaigns, social media, traditional media and collaborations with tourism platforms, we ensure constant and targeted visibility.

We create audiovisual and graphic content aligned with the museum’s identity, highlighting its heritage value and historical significance. Furthermore, we work in coordination with public administrations, cultural and tourism stakeholders to reinforce its reach, attract new audiences and foster a lasting connection with the legacy of Valencian silk.
