  • Content creation and cultural mediation

The Generalitat Valenciana acquired the Lladró Collection, the most important in the Valencian Community, and presented it in the exhibition From Darkness to Light at the Palau de les Comunicacions in Valencia.

The Lladró Collection, the most significant private art collection in the Valencian Community, was purchased by the Generalitat Valenciana and showcased together in a unique exhibition: From Darkness to Light.

The exhibition focused particularly on the paintings of Joaquín Sorolla, alongside works by great artists such as Reixach, Vicente Macip, Joan de Joanes, Ribera, Ribalta, Antonio López, Maella, Pinazo and Fillol. It also included other renowned Spanish artists such as Berruguete, El Greco, Zurbarán, Coello, Palomino and Valdés Leal.

Content design and mediation

From Darkness to Light was part of the Sorolla Year celebrations, featuring 71 paintings and 2 sculptures from the Lladró Collection, on free display at the Palau de les Comunicacions (the former Central Post Office building in Plaza del Ayuntamiento).

The exhibition aimed to provide an overview of the History of Valencian Art, highlight the importance of incorporating this valuable collection into a public art gallery, and emphasise the Sorolla Year. Global Menta Valencia organised different types of guided tours for varied audiences:

Regular visit: Offered a general overview of the most notable works in the exhibition, highlighting Valencian artists such as Juan de Juanes and Sorolla, within the context of the Sorolla Year.

Educational visits: Designed around two distinct themes.

Light and Colour Tour: Using light and colour as easily recognisable elements of painting, Global Menta created a chronological journey to understand the evolution of Valencian painting, from the late Middle Ages to the early 20th century with Sorolla and his contemporaries.

Gender Tour: Added a new perspective to the traditional tour, focusing on gender roles and the participation of women as both subjects and creators in art.
