An exhibition held at the Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia in 2023 to mark the ‘Sorolla Year’, dedicated to the most internationally renowned Valencian painter.
This exhibition brings light and truth on the artist’s early years in his native Valencia, his training at the Schools of Arts and Crafts and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos, telling the story of a young man who balanced drawing classes with working in his uncle José’s locksmith workshop, and who made his way towards success through dedication and hard work.

Content design and mediation
Organised in collaboration with the Sorolla Museum in Madrid, Sorolla. Origins was the first of the exhibitions that the Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia dedicated to the master of light and the Mediterranean to commemorate the centenary of his death.
The exhibition featured watercolours, photographs and documents from a period in Sorolla’s production that has rarely been studied, narrated with clarity and depth by our cultural mediators and guides.
